Prof Jeff Smithers

Professor & Director of Centre for Water Resources Research

Prof Smithers was Head of the School of Bioresources Engineering and Environmental Hydrology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal from July 2002 to June 2011. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Water Resources Research at UKZN and he is an adjunct Professor in the National Centre of Engineering in Agriculture, Faculty of Engineering and Surveying, University of Southern Queensland in Australia.

Prof Smithers is a registered professional engineer, a fellow of the South African Institute of Agricultural Engineers (SAIAE) and currently serves on the National Council of the SAIAE. He also serves on the Executive Board of the CIGR and is the Secretary-General of the Pan-African Society for Agricultural Engineers. He is leading the National Flood Studies Programme in South Africa.
